10/02 Movie Date!
- Chris took me to watch Warrior tonight! I think it definitely made it to my Top 10 Favorite Movies.
I’m pretty picky when it comes to movies (weird, I know, since I watch so many TV shows), but this one is kind of a winner! The story goes: Tommy Conlon comes back home to get trained by his father for Sparta, the “biggest winner-takes-all event in mixed martial arts history.” His brother, Brendan, is an ex-fighter that turned into a teacher, but becomes a fighter again to keep his family from filing for bankruptcy. Okay, don’t want to ruin the movie for you.. but you can probably guess what happens.
Now, I’m no expert in MMA. Heck, I know almost nothing about MMA, but the action in this movie was pretty tight! (It was kind of weird - these people to the right of us kept clapping at the end of every round.)
I guess, overall, I really liked this movie cause there was a lot of action involved, it was a story of an underdog rising to the top, and there was definitely a lot on family values. The ending was even a bit of a tear jerker for me! And even better, this was the first movie I watched in a movie theatre where I didn’t take a quick nap.
Joel Edgerton, who played Brendan, played his character pretty well - he was a great teacher, a diligent fighter, a distraught son, a loving husband and father, and a wonderful brother. I’ve actually never seen him in anything else, but he is going to be in The Great Gatsby! Going to look out for that. Tom Hardy, who played Tommy, was in Inception. (Never watched Inception, so I wouldn’t know if he played a big part.. but cool nonetheless?) Jennifer Morrison was in this movie, too!
Anyways, all in all. I totally recommend watching this movie. I think it’s worth paying to watch it on the big screen! Well, I didn’t pay for it, but at least I thought it was worth Chris’ money, heh.
