My life: full time job + tutoring kids + 2 internships + classes + part time job + trying to have a social life = finally fell ill.

At least I have a wonderful boyfriend who dropped off delicious porridge and Tea Station boba for me after work! :)

02/26 New Bambu

I feel like my life is a constant repetition of life, life, and more life. But today, I got to hang out with the boy for a little bit! He wanted to take me out to try a new boba place, and I needed him to help me with one of my case studies.. so it was perfect! We went to this place in Milpitas called New Bambu. It’s a dainty little Vietnamese boba shop that serves boba, Vietnamese desserts, and banh mi! Unfortunately, when I do carry cash, I only have the right amount for one boba drink, so I couldn’t buy any Vietnamese sandwiches for home. Sadface!

(By the way, I think I blog a lot less now because I used to blog a lot about my food adventures, but now that I write on Yelp, I don’t need to write about that stuff on here anymore!)

The taro milk tea was delicious, and they also put in taro chunks which were yummy! And without fail, the boy always goes into Snorlax mode when he hangs out with me. I’m not that boring, right!? We ended up playing Family Feud together, and I think we’re kind of hooked. This may be bad..

02/06 Super Bowl Sunday

After eating Chipotle with my family (Burritos by the Box, ftw!), Chris and I dropped by Wingstop to order some wings for the game! I know, I’m so lucky, Chipotle and Wingstop within a few hours? Yep. My sister told me that they would be super busy, which was reasonable since everyone eats pizzas or wings when they watch the game, but when we heard it was going to be an hour and fifteen minute wait, we were slightly surprised! A lot of people decided to not order from them after hearing the horrible wait, but we did anyways. We got there around 2pm, so our order supposedly would’ve been done at 3:15pm.

We decided to kill some time by walking around Staples and Costco, but with another 40 minutes to wait, we decided to just drive to Fremont Hub so I can shop at Target (hoping to see if there was anything left from the Jason Wu collection). Nope, the collection sold out within the first hour of opening. People are so crazy with brand named stuff! Jenny and I were frantically texting each other cause I saw that she checked into Target just a few minutes before I was there, hahah!

We went back to Wingstop to pick up our orders, but they still weren’t done. I hate waiting! People whose orders were supposed to be done at 3pm were still waiting, and the cashiers started handing out free drink cups. So that’s something you should learn for next year! When you’re ordering Wingstop, just order food, and hope your order takes slightly order than they promised cause they’ll hand you free drinks! (Whether you looked annoyed or not, basically everyone who they knew were waiting for their orders got a free drink.)

We ate wings and homemade nachos during the game. Jenn is always cooking and making great food - I’m so jealous. Oh, and exciting news? If you signed up to be a member of the Papa John’s Rewards program, we all won a free pizza and soda! Thanks heads for showing up on the coin toss! :D

After the game, Chris and I decided to finish catching up with The Walking Dead! Okay, honestly, I can’t really pinpoint what is so great about the show.. but it’s definitely got me wanting to watch the next episodes. Every. Single. Time. Chris and I finished the first season in a day. And we finished the majority of season two yesterday. There were some episodes of the current season that were bleh and super slow, but I really do like a lot of the character developments.

We finished around midnight, and since I was feeling super tired from watching TV all day, we decided to call it a night. When he walked me out, he whispers, “Watch out for the zombies!” What an a-hole. I hardly ever run, but I definitely ran to my car. And then I tried to speed home, but there were still a good handful of police patrolling around (for drunk drivers, I’m assuming). And then from my car, I ran to my house and upstairs until I was safely in bed.

When we watch the show, Chris always teases me cause he said I would never survive a zombie apocalypse. And I’m not going to disagree with him about that!

02/04 Pomeranian puppies!

After dinner, we went back to Chris’ cousin’s place to chill for a bit before heading over to Mike’s place for BP!

I remember a few months back, before I hung out at Chris’ cousin’s place, Chris would tell me about these three dogs that were super hyper and semi-annoying. I got to meet them today, and it really was love at first sight, hahah! They are so adorable, and I really just wanted to take one home!

I ended up sitting on the hallway floor for a long time playing with the doggies, and Chris was like, “wtf are you doing?” Yep, he’s a hater!

02/04 Salsa Picante No. 2

Craving some Mexican food, we decided to go back to our favorite Mexican restaurant for dinner tonight. Instead of getting the same usual - super burrito and quesadilla, we decided to try something new! (Well, we still got an order of the quesadilla.) I’ve never had chimichangas before, so Chris said that we should get that. Great choice!

Honestly, the only times I’ve seen a chimichanga was those frozen ones.. and those never looked very appetizing. So I was a little iffy about trying these. But they’re pretty amazeballs! They were pretty good - filled with a lot of meat and the tortilla is deep fried perfectly. They left the rice and beans on the side, so you can add it as you please. I definitely skipped the beans!

We read some reviews on Yelp about Salsa Picante No. 2, and some people write the worst reviews. My favorite hater review?: “OK First I am from San Diego. As most of you don’t know good Mexican food does not exist in any way shape or from north of the Oceanside check point. Any body who can cook good enough does not have to risk the border patrol checkpoint so they stay down is San Diego, all that don’t make the grade… North you go.”

Way to sound like an ignorant food critic. Kaaaay.

02/05 MSJ Wrestling Tournament & BBQ Kalbi Food Truck

My brother mentioned there was a wrestling competition when he got home on Friday, but I didn’t know it was through the weekend! Chris was watching the competition, so I dropped by before we hung out. Apparently, there were 40 schools there. Crazy! Both parking lots were packed, the gym was full, and all the areas around the gym were occupied with parents and students alike.

It’s funny to me (not to Chris) that I didn’t even know wrestling was a big sport. Honestly, I didn’t even know we had these big wrestling competitions at our school.. I thought we were only famous for badminton and tennis. I mean, we almost didn’t have a football team.. so why would wrestling be a legit sport? (Just kidding, don’t tell him I said that.. again.)

It was pretty cool cause they had a BBQ Kalbi Truck outside the gym. This was my first time trying a food truck, so that was pretty exciting! :) We got a kalbi burrito and it was pretty decent. Maybe it wasn’t as good as I expected because I got spoiled by Hashigo’s korean-style-burritos.. who knows!

While we were eating, I saw this guy with a “Pin it to Win it” shirt, and I had to snap a photo of it! I thought it was pretty “cute” cause it rhymes and it’s true! Chris rolled his eyes and said that he’s pretty sure “cute” was not what they were going for. Oops!

There’s tons of exciting things happening tomorrow - Jason Wu for Target, no work, Super Bowl Sunday, etc.

But I’m most excited for the Burritos by the Box deal at Chipotle! I’m not even watching the Super Bowl with my family, but with four kids that love burritos.. we couldn’t pass up the deal! :D

(I’ve been so bad at updating about my life.. but at least that means I’m actually having a life?)

Ever since school started two days ago, I feel so overwhelmedwith the amount of things I need to finish. Not going to lie, having more responsibilities for my two internships is nice, but sometimes I feel overly swamped with assignments and deadlines. It’s tough juggling a part time job (thank goodness it’s been chill), two internships, classes, and still trying to find time for family, friends, and the boyfriend!

But I did get a nice surprise in the mail today, which made my day a lot better. My copy of the Occasions magazine finally came in! It’s actually kind of cool seeing my name in print for a big wedding and events magazine in Atlanta, Georgia. (Did I mention this magazine got picked up by Walmart? Going big!) My baby brother, Neil, teased me about getting all excited. He said, “I can’t believe you’re excited about your name being printed in 11 point font in a magazine.” Clearly, he’s a hater.

Out of all the internships I’ve done so far, I think this one is my favorite. I have a great boss, who’s super helpful and really stylish. I have wonderful intern friends, who are all so talented and driven. (I really do feel inadequate sometimes because they’re all journalism majors.. and I’m here like, “I just like to blog!”) And this internship really gets my creative juices flowing. All in all, this whole experience just gives me that feeling that I’m actually not a bad blogger/writer! ;)

Pretty excited for the next issue where we actually get to get our writing in print!

Kay, back to the reality of deadlines, errands, and studying..

Chris told me I had a surprise waiting for me, so I was pretty excited when I went over to hang out. Turns out, his cousin, Jennifer, made me a big gift basket (for no special reason)! I love that everything in this gift basket is so practical - lotion, scented stuff, bathroom essentials, make up tools, a few bottles of nail polish, etc. I really wanted to buy some new colors, but now that she did for me, I don’t need to!

Ever since I got sick (again? I know..), I get so tired! Chris and I tried starting Sherlock and Alcatraz, but both times I fell asleep within twenty minutes. It’s not that they’re bad shows, really! I think they’re both pretty interesting.. I just can’t stay awake!

(I just noticed I haven’t blogged in almost a week. I’m just so busy with work and internships.. and now that I’m sick, I need to schedule in more time with my bed! And then school starts in less than two weeks. Meep!)
